Project Overview

HomeService is a web-based on-demand home service management system developed using the Django framework. The main objective of this project is to provide a simple and reliable digital platform where customers can search for nearby service providers and book household services such as electrical work, plumbing, cleaning, repairs, and other maintenance-related tasks. The system reduces the difficulty of manually finding trusted workers by connecting customers with registered and approved providers through a centralized application.

The platform includes separate modules for customers, service providers, and administrators. Customers can register, browse available services, search providers based on location, place booking requests, make payments, track booking status, and submit reviews after service completion. Service providers can manage their profile, add service details, view customer booking requests, accept or reject bookings, and mark completed work. Administrators can manage users, approve providers, monitor services, and maintain overall system control.

This project improves convenience, transparency, and efficiency in the home service booking process. By including features such as role-based access, provider verification, booking management, payment support, and customer feedback, HomeService creates a structured and user-friendly solution for both customers and service providers.

Module Breakdown 11 Modules

User Management
The system supports three types of users: customer, service provider, and admin. Users can register, log in, log out, update their profile, upload profile images, upload ID proof, and change passwords.
Customer Features
Service providers can register with their service details, experience, price, location, profile image, and ID proof. After admin approval, they can log in, view booking requests, accept or reject bookings, view accepted and completed bookings, mark work as completed, and check customer feedback.
Service Provider Features

Admin Features
Admin can manage the overall platform. Admin can view all users, approve or reject providers, activate or deactivate users, add and manage service categories, view all bookings, and monitor platform activity through dashboard counts and reports.
Service Management
The system stores different home service categories such as electrician, plumber, cleaner, and carpenter. Each service has a name, description, image, and base price.
Provider Search and Filtering
Customers can search service providers based on service type and location. Providers can be filtered by state, district, city, or place, helping customers find nearby service providers
Booking Management
Customers can create bookings by selecting a provider, service, date, time, and address. Bookings move through statuses such as requested, accepted, rejected, completed, and cancelled.
Payment Feature
The project includes Stripe payment integration. Customers can pay the platform/booking fee online. Booking completion and review submission are allowed only after payment is completed.
Completion Confirmation
The system uses dual completion confirmation. The provider first marks the work as completed, and then the customer confirms completion. Only after both confirmations is the booking marked as completed.
Review and Rating Feature
Customers can submit a rating and feedback after a completed booking. Each booking can have only one review. Provider ratings and latest feedback are shown to customers while selecting providers.
Location API Feature
The system uses a country-state-city API to fetch Indian states and cities dynamically. This helps users select and search locations more accurately.
